The legalities behind selling taxidermy at auction ( or any method) vary widely by local state regulations. We have found that calling the local DNR office to be the most helpful in regards to getting concrete answers as to what you can, and cannot sell at auction.
Taxidermy sells very well on K-BID and this extra legwork can be well worth your time. However, the penalties are severe should you sell something that is not legal to sell.

It’s okay if the specimen been inherited in the family. This type of taxidermy must be destined for a private collection and not for the purpose of sale.
