Selling Vehicles at Auction

Affiliates of K-BID.com sell thousands of vehicles each year at auction.  Vehicles can be lucrative assets to sell but do come with their own challenges and best practices.  

For Titled Assets in MN:   

• Titled assets within MN need to be sold through a licensed auto dealer. 
• K-BID can act as a dealer of record (DOR) for affiliates in MN.  Please see the instructions on this page if you would like to use K-BID as your DOR.    
• If using another DOR, or if you are a dealer.  Please provide a copy of the dealers license to [e-mail]. The Dealers License should be listed in the terms of each auction.  

For Registered Assets in MN:  

• Registered assets (boats, ATV's, canoes) do not need to be sold through a DOR.  
• The buyer will use their invoice as a bill of sale when registering the asset with the DNR.
• The local sales tax rate should be charged and collected by the affiliate and submitted to the Dept. of Revenue.  
• Boat/trailer combinations would need to go through a DOR for the trailer.  

For all titled/registered assets outside of MN: 

• K-BID does not hold a dealers license in any state other than MN.  
• Affiliates are responsible for abiding by local laws and regulations to sell titled/registered assets in other states.
