K-BID.com experienced a website interruption on 10/19/2023 from 8:30pm - 9:00pm. Unfortunately, this interruption happened during a busy night and 13 auctions had to be extended/reopened within accordance of our website interruption policy listed below. These auctions were extended 24 hours and buyers were alerted via email, web site banner notifications, blog posts, social media posts, and via text.
This was an internal issue that has been diagnosed and since fixed. While our overall uptime has been very good, the occasional issues can and do happen, which is why we have this policy in place. We understand the tough position these scenarios can put affiliates in with their buyers and sellers, and we will continue to do everything in our power to prevent them.
What is K-BID doing?
1. Based on feedback we received, we are considering altering our website interruption policy to allow for lots that had already closed prior to the interruption to remain in a closed status. Currently, we reopen all lots within an auction(s) that was impacted.
Programmatically, this will require some future adjustments to accommodate. We will keep you informed on any future changes to our website interruption policy.
2. We have procedures in place to ensure any code pushes will only occur during off-hours, when auctions are not closing and preferably when traffic on the site is minimal.
3. We plan to add resources to our development team. We have a long list of development needs, requests, and general maintenance/improvements to complete. To help further these projects and make sure we can stay up to date on the rapid changes that come with web development, K-BID will be looking at adding to our development team.
What should you be doing?
1. Make sure you understand the Website Interruption Policy and it's implications.
2. Include reference to the interruption policy within your seller contracts and discussions. The policy is in place to protect affiliates, sellers and buyers.
3. Should a website interruption occur, please look for updates within our affiliate Facebook group and on the website. If your auction was impacted, we will be in touch with you via email to discuss the action plan going forward.
Current Policy:
Website Interruption
K-BID is committed to doing everything possible to ensure the reliability of our website. Unfortunately, there are factors outside our control that can impact access to K-BID.com. If K-BID.com becomes inaccessible at any point during an auction closing, the following protocol will be followed:
- Auctions that have closed prior to the website going down, will remain closed and the winning bidder invoices will be sent out.
- Auctions in the process of closing, regardless of how many lots have closed or have yet to close, will be reopened and the auction closing will be extended by 24 hours. Lots that closed prior to the website going down, will be reopened for bidding; the winning bidder will be the lead bidder upon the website becoming accessible again.
- Auctions scheduled to begin closing during the time the website is inaccessible, and for the 15 minutes following the website coming back online, will have the auction closing time extended by 24 hours.
- Auctions scheduled to close more than 15 minutes after the website becomes accessible again, will close at the scheduled time.
In the event of a website interruption not covered by one of the above scenarios, K-BID reserves the right to make the final determination of how the auction will be handled.
