Being a part of the K-BID Independent Affiliate Network comes with benefits. For most Online Auctioneers maintaining the website, reaching new bidders and working with bidder training are time consuming issues that take you away from doing the things that actually bring revenue: Auctions. Our goal is to provide you with as much training as possible to put you in a great position to earn revenue through focusing on your sales. While auction-specific tips are great, here are a few of the broader things you can do to enhance your business.
Customer Service
Customer service is the manner in which you treat your customers and assist them with their needs. With hundreds of other auction companies in the upper Midwest, customers (bidders & sellers) have options when it comes to finding the right Auction House for their assets. One of the reasons people choose K-BID is because of the way in which we treat our bidders. As a rule of thumb, I always help my bidders carry items to their car if I'm not too busy. This allows me to form a relationship with them and lets them know I care about them and not just making a buck on the sale. This has led to both sales leads and other sales from bidders. In some cases, bidders will go out of their way to bid on my auctions because they know I am willing to help them if they are not able to move the items, as well as help their wives or other people they may send to pickup the items. This gives them peace of mind and doesn't cost me anything.
Another thing that doesn't cost a thing: a smile. Listen - I get it. Some days are rough in this business. I guarantee you it's not going to be an easier if you're crabby about it. Smile, show people they matter to you (they are paying you, after all) and leave your customers in a better mood than they found you in.
Broaden Your Scope of Assets
Are you an expert in something other than the main asset you sell? Perhaps you are an Antiques expert that currently only sells tools? Find ways to capitalize on asset groups you have experience with. Join Facebook groups that focus on these assets and connect with the people that may be in a position to sell such items. If you're an expert in the area, chances are good you enjoy those items more too. Finding niche areas within the auction industry to help people liquidate those assets will be a more fulfilling and rewarding job for you when you have a better understanding of your items and the applications they are used in. Want some more ideas on how to make this work for you? Let me know - I'd love to chat about it with you.
Increase Your Professionalism
When is the last time you saw a Marine with their uniform out of order? That's a trick question - you haven't. When it comes to being in business, how you act and dress tells your customers exactly how much you care about what they think about you. Spend a few dollars and get company shirts. Perhaps improving your business card or the sign on the front of the building is in order. Fair or not, people will judge you within seconds based on your appearance and the condition of your business/materials. Sweep the floor. Declutter the cashier's table. Do the little things that show your bidders/sellers that you will look after the small details of their transaction as well.
