Some of you have been asking for guidance in regards to COVID-19 and how you should proceed with online auctions. Since each affiliate is independent and has a unique business model that may or may not support essential functions, K-BID corporate is still not in a position to direct affiliates when/if they are able to operate.
That said, it appears that social distancing will play a role in all businesses going forward. Many affiliates have been able to continue operating and recent local changes may allow a more "normal" sense of business. We have been able to put together some resources/tools that should help affiliates navigate these decisions and operate safely when they are able to do so.
1. Consult with your local authorities for specific questions and concerns regarding your business. MN has some helpful resources available through the DEED website: https://mn.gov/deed/newscenter/covid/safework/business/
2. All businesses should create a COVID-19 Preparedness Plan. The plan should outline the actions taken to keep yourself, staff, and customers safe. With the help of the NAA, we have created a template plan specific to online auctions and attached it to this page. Feel free to use and customize that to your business. The state of MN also has examples available on the DEED website.
2A. Implement the procedures outlined in your preparedness plan.
3. Post signage at your location and on-site that clearly outlines your COVID-19 preparedness plan to staff and customers. This example is also available on the attached COVID-19 Preparedness document.
4. Use the inspection/removal by appointment feature in K-BID! Bidders can now schedule an appointment for inspections and removals within K-BID.com. See this video tutorial to start using this feature today. Full instructions can be found here: Requiring Removal By Appointment
5. Clearly outline any information pertaining to your preparedness plan that buyers need to know. Use your auction terms, description and informational lots if necessary. If a lot is created that needs to be halted, please contact us affiliateservices@k-bidmail.com

6. Set up your removal/inspections to promote social distancing. Many affiliates have shared how they have been proactive in doing this. Shown is an example of Savage Surplus's checkout line.
7. K-BID is able to process titles at this time if you are using K-BID Dealer Services. Please contact auctionwithtitles@k-bidmail.com with any specific questions.
It's wonderful to see so many affiliates that have taken proactive steps to ensure their safety and ability to serve their customers during this time. Have other ideas or suggestions? We'd love to hear them.
Stay safe and have a great weekend!
