News / Tips / New info: 

Text Notification Update: 

We introduced text notifications in Fall of 2021 for watched items closing soon.  Bidders who have items on their watch list and who have opted in to receive text reminders receive a text 15 minutes before the auction will close.  Adoption has been slower (as expected) but extremely effective for those who have opted in with 400 visits per day and over 6,000 bids placed since introduction. 

If you have buyers that complain about forgetting about items, tell them to opt-in for text reminders on their account page!   

Square Payment Issues: 

Affiliates using Square may occasionally notice an issue with the invoice status in K-BID not updating after a bidder has paid online using the Square integration.   Occasionally, this can happen where there is a delay in communication with Square and K-BID that causes a timeout and results in an incorrect “Open” invoice status. 

Fortunately, this is usually self correcting as the buyer will contact you and state that they’ve already made the payment, but it’s not showing as paid on your invoice list.  If this happens, please follow these steps:  

1. Log in to Square to verify if the transaction was completed.
2. If so, manually process the invoice as Paid Square on the List Invoices page on K-BID. 
3. If it show’s they paid twice in Square, a refund may be due to that buyer.     
4. The status/payment info in Square will supersede the payment status in K-BID. 

This is a rare issue that happens to a few invoices a month.  Due to our integration with Square, we do not have control over any downtime or bugs that they might encounter that could cause this delay and incorrect invoice status.  We will continue to investigate to find a long term solution.  Again, please follow the steps above if you ever have questions about a payment status using only the Square integration.  This would not apply to anyone using a merchant account and Paytrace.
